Viewing the site

Set and Turn Single is an essential resource for anyone interested in folk dancing. The main areas of the site are the Calendar which lists forthcoming events by date and the Directory which contains contact details for dance clubs, bands, callers, etc.

Calendar

This lists all the dance events that we know about. We list dances in the "English" tradition which includes English country dance, "Playford" style dances, contra dances and ceilidhs.

To see what's on this month click 'Calendar' in the menu bar. As you move the cursor over each event you will see more details. Click the event name to bring up a page with full details for that event. You can jump to a different month using the boxes and arrows above the calendar. You can view events in different categories by clicking the buttons below the calendar. The default is to display all categories.

There is a menu item under 'Calendar' where you can search for an event. For example, if you want to see all entries for a particular band or club, just type the name in the search box and click 'Search'. The search includes all the words that appear on the event details page, apart from the actual address.

To search by location, use the 'Geographic filter' which is displayed above the monthly calendar. Enter the starting location to search from and the distance you want to travel. If the starting location is ambiguous you may be offered a choice. Click the location you want, making sure you don't pick, for example, a location in the USA.

We also list regular club nights in the calendar. Sometimes clubs add their events according to a formula like 'every Tuesday'. When they do this, they may not have allowed properly for public holidays or changed circumstances. So always check with the organisers before travelling.

Directory

The Directory lists contact details for clubs, bands, callers etc.

You can use the search box to look for any text in the entry. You can also apply a filter to select which category to display. Click a column heading to sort alphabetically. Click a name to bring up more details for that entry. There is also a contact form to send an email to the person or organisation concerned.
